A Little Caught Up - Insomnia,Exam, and Game? by
Assalamualaikum and good day to all.
It's been a while, huh? HaHaHaHa! I think I didn't update this blog for like ages. Well, actually, I have kinda a lot of reason. But first, let me state about my first reason. Yup, from the title, it's insomnia, exam and games.
But first, I'm gonna tell you about insomnia:
WHAT IS INSOMNIA?
Says Wiki:
Insomnia (or sleeplessness) is most often defined by an individual's report of sleeping difficulties. While the term is sometimes used in sleep literature to describe a disorder demonstrated by polysomnographic evidence of disturbed sleep, insomnia is often defined as a positive response to either of two questions: "Do you experience difficulty sleeping?" or "Do you have difficulty falling or staying asleep?"
Thus, insomnia is most often thought of as both a sign and a symptom that can accompany several sleep, medical, and psychiatric disorders, characterized by persistent difficulty falling asleep and/or staying asleep or sleep of poor quality. Insomnia is typically followed by functional impairment while awake. One definition of insomnia is difficulties initiating and/or maintaining sleep, or non-restorative sleep, associated with impairments of daytime functioning or marked distress for more than 1 month."
Insomnia can be grouped into primary and secondary, or comorbid, insomnia. Primary insomnia is a sleep disorder not attributable to a medical, psychiatric, or environmental cause. A complete diagnosis will differentiate between:
- insomnia as secondary to another condition,
- primary insomnia co-morbid with one or more conditions, or
- free-standing primary insomnia.
There are 3 types of insomnia:
Insomnia can be classified as transient, acute, or chronic.
- Transient insomnia lasts for less than a week. It can be caused by another disorder, by changes in the sleep environment, by the timing of sleep, severe depression, or by stress. Its consequences – sleepiness and impaired psychomotor performance – are similar to those of sleep deprivation.
- Acute insomnia is the inability to consistently sleep well for a period of less than a month. Insomnia is present when there is difficulty initiating or maintaining sleep or when the sleep that is obtained is non-refreshing or of poor quality. These problems occur despite adequate opportunity and circumstances for sleep and they must result in problems with daytime function. Acute insomnia is also known as short term insomnia or stress related insomnia.
- Chronic insomnia lasts for longer than a month. It can be caused by another disorder, or it can be a primary disorder. People with high levels of stress hormones or shifts in the levels ofcytokines are more likely to have chronic insomnia. Its effects can vary according to its causes. They might include muscular fatigue, hallucinations, and/or mental fatigue. Some people that live with this disorder see things as if they are happening in slow motion, wherein moving objects seem to blend together. Chronic insomnia can cause double vision.
So yeah, I'm having a sleeping disorder. And the only way to treat this is to either take medication or doing the most simple thing; re-correct my sleeping timing and have a really good quality sleep.
Alright, that's one problem. Moving on to next; Final Examination week.
I started the examination week since last week. Although I though I want to post something on the net, but because of all the studying and stuff, I forgot about my future entry for my blog. For this, I'm really sorry. But, I'm trying to made up during this semester break. 2 months of holiday, here I come. *winkwink*
And last but not least, video games.
Here in UiTM, there's a unique thing about Computer Sciences boy; we're easily addicted to games, once we saw what is the latest game our friend were playing. At first, it was Yu-Gi-Oh: Power of Chaos, then the PS2 emulator (it's because of me, actually), then comes Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, multiplayer mode. Then recently, it's Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. So yeah, once we got a new game, we're easily addicted to that particular games. Wanna prove? If you're a true gamer, or simply, hanging too much time on the computer or laptop, you should have this mark like mine:
Actually, both of my hand have this kinda mark. This hand is the hand that holding the same mouse every day, every time. Well, honestly, most of my time is with the laptop. HarHarHar. xD
Well, that's it readers. I hope you'll understand why I left my blog for a very long time. But if God wills it, I'll post a lot of entry starting tomorrow, since there's a lot of ideas coming. Although I didn't finish my exam yet, my next paper is on next week, so I can take a really deep breath of a period of time.
Wish me luck! I'll post the nest entry when I woke up from my sleep, I promise. Till then readers. ^_^
