Why I Like Code Geass? by
11 April 2012|0 talkative person(s)

Hi ho~! Assalamualaikum~! ^_^

Hi there otaku boys and not so otaku girls. If you're UiTM student, firstly I would like to wish happy 2 months of holiday. Make sure that you don't end up having a round-shape body when you're going back to collage. HarHarHar~ xD
To other students who still studying, I wish all the best to you guys. I understand that some of you guys will face the final exam. Break a leg then. ^_^

Okay, before I get to the topic, I'm pretty sure that Malaysian's most top search in Google or other search engine is Zed Zaidi and Aaron Aziz stuff. I'm not really fond of that kind of issues, but since every words is in the search engine, they might stop by at my blog instead of looking for nonsense stuff. HarHarHar~

Today I would like to talk about an anime called Code Geass:  Lelouch of the Rebellion. But first, let me tell you a short brief what this anime is all about:

Lelouch Lamperouge, the series' protagonist, is an exiled Britannian prince who was sent as a hostage to Japan, along with his sister Nunnally Lamperouge, by his father, Emperor Charles zi Britannia, after his mother, Marianne vi Britannia, was murdered. He then vows himself and his first friend, Suzaku Kururugi, to obliterate Britannia. Seven years later, Lelouch meets a girl known as C.C. who, in order to save his life, makes a contract with him. Lelouch then gains a power called Geass, also known as the Power of the King, allowing him to command anyone to do what he wants, bending their will to live, fight, die, and follow orders – though only if he has direct eye contact with his target. With this new power and his natural intelligence, Lelouch sets out to find the person who killed his mother and to make a better world for his sister, Nunnally. He becomes the leader of the resistance movement known as The Black Knights, who wage war on Britannia. As the Black Knights' leader he takes on an alter-ego called Zero, gaining popular support among the Japanese people on his way towards rebellion.

One fine day, before I have to get back to my collage to continue my second semester, I ask my neighbor, a girl, to give me a whole lot of Japanese + anime songs in my thumb drive. After a while, I found a song called 'Colors' by FLOW. And so, I started to search and that's where I found Code Geass. At first, I thought I have to download a whole lot of episodes, but fortunately, one of my friends who is also an anime freak, had a complete episodes of Code Geass, including for the second season. Although it's in 340p, it's okay. At least I get the chance to watch it.

During the first week, I started to like this anime. Although it's from 2006, I can say that this anime was awesome! And here's why:

1) The opening song itself, 'Colors' by FLOW.

The first time I listen to this song, it seems that I really like it very much. Not just because the harmony of the song, but the meaning in the lyrics as well. During Japanese anime magazine Animage's 29th Annual Anime Grand Prix, 'Colors' has been chosen as the most popular song during that time. Until now, I'm still listen to this songs. According to my iTunes, I play the songs in total of 750++ times and counting.

2) The character.

The protagonist and anti-hero character, Lelouch, have some complex personality, which is why the whole story is goes according exactly to his plan. Most of his friends say that he is clever, but unfortunately, he's wasting his ability. He is really expert in chess, but when it's come to his brother, Prince Schneizel, his brother was the only one he can't beat in chess. He also vows to himself that he will obliterate the Britannia, and create a better world for his sister, Nunnally. But during the second season, he have to fight with his own sister, which make the situation worst. However, when Nunnally said that she want to carry the sin to herself, Lelouch finnaly have to use his Geass in order to obtain the key to the mass destruction weapon. During that time, Lelouch said that he don't want her sister to feel the burden as same as he has to carry. At the same time, he may look like he is the villain, but from the truth, he actually sacrifice himself in order to achieve his plan, Zero Requiem, by order his best friend, Suzaku Kurugi, to assassinate him in public during the final episode of Code Geass R2.

Lelouch mostly reflect about my character as well. He might look like he want to achieve something for his own pleasure, but in the truth, he is actually trying to reach his goal for others. Plus, he have to take care of his disable sister, which is a great burden every time Lelouch lie to her.

Ah, forgot to mention, Code Geass character is design by my most favorite artist, CLAMP, the same artist who has publish Cardcaptor Sakura, XXXHolic and Tsubasa Chronicle. I started to notice something familiar with the character's cloth, especially Lelouch's. After trying to remember something, Tsubasa Chronicle has come across my mind. After some comparison, the clothing was really design from CLAMP. ^_^

3) The storyline

Most of the scene is unpredictable yet clever tactics used by Lelouch. Most of his tactics use environment advantage in order to turn the table to his advantage. The viewers will never know which side will win in every war, and it's pretty hard to guess who's going to die and who will survive. But yet, every event is according to Lelouch's plan, although some of it wasn't originally his plan.
Sometimes, there is a twist in every event, for example, his mother actually alive, but her soul is kept somewhere safe, thanks to her Geass where she can take over someone's heart and control it. But after hearing his father plan to execute the Ragnarok junction, he ues his Geass to destroy it and banish his parents forever. Although Lelouch's father plan seems ideal (to build a world with no lies and only the truth), but Lelouch still think that everything has to be the same. During that time, Lelouch and Suzaku finally understand about what they going to achieve, hence Lelouch and Suzaku once become enemy now has become ally.
Since its premiere, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion has collected numerous awards and accolades. At the sixth annual Tokyo Anime Awards held at the 2007 Tokyo International Anime Fair,Code Geass won the best TV anime series award. The second season also got the award of "Best Screenplay" in the 2009 Tokyo Anime Fair. In noted Japanese anime magazine Animage's 29th Annual Anime Grand Prix, Code Geass won the most popular series award.

Code Geass was one of the famous anime in Europe, so if you didn't watch it yet, I suggest you to download it now! Because anything would happen in this anime.

I wish there's third season for it. I feel bad about Nunnally and Suzaku after Lelouch's death. Owh, and C.C's wish to die. How thing's should actually end, I wonder?
